TURISAS - Interview - Random Questions

TURISAS - Interview - Random Questions

Turisas are a viking metal band from Finland.
Resplendant in full battle paint and leather and fur body armour they played to a hungry hourde of metalheads at the Cavern, Exeter back in 2008.
They have been known to have said that they do not sing about fantasy and dragons but write songs that reflect their true heritage as viking warriors.
They are like listening to a bombastic film score with choirs, strings and of course melodic but crunch heavy guitar playing coupled with an accordion player and a violinist who plays through distortion and sounds better than most top guitar players.
Amusing and self aware, this band really know what the crowd wanted, joking with them and whipping them up into a primal frenzy and they certainly pounded the crowd’s ears and bodies with a wall of sound.
The stand out track must have been their cover of the Boney M song 'Rasputin’ - the whole of the cavern was bouncing, moshing and head banging their way into oblivion. What fun.
A great band if symphonic battle metal is your thing.
This interview was recorded with permission from Century Media on their tour bus with Violinist Olli Vanska and Bass player Hannes Horma
